Belarusian company RocketData has announced the signing of a deal with a strategic investor represented by 2GIS, which is part of the Sber ecosystem.

As of today the mapping service has signed binding documents to acquire 47% of RocketData. After the necessary regulatory approvals are received this share will increase to 88% in the second half of 2021. At the same time, 8.62% of the stake was bought in the first stage from the Russian-Belarusian Venture Fund (RBF Ventures). According to the deputy director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, RBF Ventures plans to make several more investments in Belarusian and Russian companies in the IT sector.

The operating management of the company will remain with the current RocketData team. Currently, the project focuses on helping businesses: their platform allows collecting and managing information from reference services, maps, directories and social networks in one place. The investments received will help to launch new products, including a service for generation of reviews, a platform for analysis of local search results, a widget with a map of the company’s locations for the website, and other solutions.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed, but both sides expect that the financing will enable both companies to scale up and strengthen their presence in different markets. For example, RocketData plans to launch sales in major cities in Russia and the UAE.
