The coronavirus pandemic has given impetus to the development of many technological industries. This includes projects in the field of Digital Health: during the quarantine, remote medical consultation has become very relevant. Against the background of this trend, deals for investing in healthcare technology startups are also multiplying.

Yesterday, it was announced £5.5M for London-based HelloSelf in Series A financing. OMERS Ventures led the series. Also participating in the round were Manta Ray Ventures, Oxford Capital Partners and 2EnablePartners.

HelloSelf is part of the new direction of Digital therapeutics, an evidence-based medical approach that uses specific software. Digital therapeutics has already demonstrated effectiveness in certain areas and treatments, such as the nervous system and mental health issues. It is in the field of the latter that HelloSelf is developing its services.

HelloSelf is an online therapy and psychological coaching service that connects users with the best clinical psychologists in the UK and provides online support between sessions using artificial intelligence. The company, which now has a team of more than 150 clinical psychologists, engineers and developers, offers a clinically based approach to provide its users with prevention, skills training and treatment for psychological health. The company collects and processes data, feedback and results from each session to personalize treatment plans and the services provided to the user.

“HelloSelf brings together the world of technology, neuroscience and psychology to try to help people not just understand who they are and what they are capable of, but to discover the science of the self and use it to help every person on this planet become the best version of their self,” Charles Wells says of his project.

According to the company, HelloSelf served 15 times as much people in February 2021 compared to the previous year. The resulting investment will be used primarily to create HelloSelf’s B2B offering, the HelloSelf @Work service, which will help organizations of all sizes in the U.K. provide their employees with personalized mental health support services.
