One of the largest IT-companies in Ukraine becomes part of Japanese giant Hitach

According to the rating “Top 50 IT-companies of Ukraine” by the profile resource DOU.UA, the IT-sphere provides more than 60 000 jobs across the country. The American company GlobalLogic ranks third on the list, currently employing 5 712 people, of which 5 366 are technical specialists.

Yesterday, an important M&A deal took place in the global IT world: one of the largest conglomerates in the world, the Japanese company Hitachi, absorbed software developer GlobalLogic. The official release says that the purchase cost Hitachi $9.6B. It already includes more than 1 100 companies, and at the end of July 2021 the entire volume of GlobalLogic will join that capital. It includes several offices in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Mykolaiv.

If the deal ends successfully, it will be the biggest acquisition for the Japanese company. This will strengthen the portfolio of its digital division thanks to the engineering expertise of GlobalLogic. Thus, the well-known manufacturer of electrical equipment will accelerate the process of its modernization, taking into account its “turn” toward the IT sector.
